Fourteenth Visit
1/09/08, Monday
2.15 - 3.30 pm

-went to shihui’s house and rehearsed for the last performance for them
-around 12.30pm, we went to jurong east and ate lunch at Macdonalds
-we then went to popular to buy a game (that can help exercise their mind) for them

-reached the centre at about 2.15pm
-started out by greeting them a good afternoon with handshakes
-sang songs for the elderly, got some of them to clap along for a bit
-overall, it went fine

-helped the staff with their ball game
-the elderly were asked to bounce and pass a ball to the person opposite
-to make it more challenging, we increased the number of balls and set other conditions for them to do before they pass the ball on
-some of them got confused over the new conditions set while others who had better
understanding and memory did fine

-checked the plants for the last time and found that they were doing well
-passed the present to the staff (not to the elderly, because they would think that
the present is only for one of them, not all of them)

-did a feedback survey with the elderly and talked to them for a while

-gave them a special montage made by us
-at around 3.30pm, we bid them farewell for the last time

Seventh Visit
12/05/08, Monday
10.00am - 11.00am

-we cooperated with the other volunteers of the home

(they were middle aged "aunties" who usually come in alternate weeks)
-they played a game with us while the elderly watched and gave us support
-2 of us will play at one time
-both will be blind folded holding a "stick"(roll of newspapers) in one hand
-the objective of the game is to hit ur opponent with the stick while listening to the instructions of the person helping u, to tell u where to move or where to hit
-the game was very funny & made us and the elderly laugh
-we took some photos and videos of us playing the game
-haha, seems like we look rather stupid when playing the game
-but it was rather a nice game

*this game showed us how hard it was to control and move ourselves
in the world of the blind
*we understood better how some blind elderly have so much difficulty in
doing their normal daily tasks (1 of the elderly in the centre is almost
totally blind)
